japa mala

V I E W..J A P A..M A L A...... ..... H O W .T O .P R A C T I C E

All mala and sumerani are handmade by Sanyamatma.
They are made with the intention that they are to be used as a meditation aid
to hold the mind fixed for the practice of mantra repetition.

Special thanks to those who introduced me to the wonderful practice of mala making, especially:
Swami Dharmashakti (Ammaji), Swami Pragyananda, Swami Prakashananda and Sannyasi Mitrayananda.

japa mala: crystal rudraksha
M A L A

Unless otherwise stated all mala have 108 beads separated by the Bramhagranti, or knot of creation. Offset from the main loop is a Sumeru bead and tassle
to mark the end of 108 mantra repetitions (similar to
the picture on the left).

S U M E R A N I

Sumerani have 27 beads. They are continuous, without a tassle and are traditionally used for "Japa Anusthana", where japa is practised 24 hours a day for a set period.
Because of the fixed number of beads some fit on the wrist some don't. 8mm beads fit most people.
